What a marvelous poem - or a prayer, perhaps, too. Or both. But I love that the act of poem-writing offers us this chance for honesty and clear sight, and that we don't have to resolve the difficulties with platitudes. We can speak them or write them, and we can place them alongside all the things that give us hope.
A lovely, wise poem from a lovely, wise poet!

Welcome to blogland indeed, my friend!

I love what you've written about the power of art to change not only the artist but also the whole world. I agree with you entirely. I have come to believe that even our most private acts of art-making - writing a haiku alone in a dimly-lit room, for instance - have more power than we ever dreamed.

And you are doing all of this and helping others do it, too. I salute you, dear Poet, Writer, Teacher, Mother, Friend, and I'm always eager to read your passionate, honest, artful words.

Blog on!
love,
Kate
